Philâs Empty Home Giveaway, C4, 9pm
After devoting his time to dealing with fusspots with unreasonable property demands, Phil Spencer now turns his attention to a more noble pursuit â putting a roof over the heads of a pair of homeless people by Christmas. In doing so he draws attention to the 1million properties that lie empty in Britain, 80 per cent of which are in the private sector. To complete his mission, he is joined by architect George Clarke to bring one of them into full working order by persuading owners to let them loose on renovation plans. SL
Frozen Planet BBC1, 9pm
There have been some wondrous sights in this series â dramatic ice floes, frolicking polar bear cubs, über-cute Emperor penguins. This finale emphasises the sad fact that itâs all disappearing: satellite images show the break-up of the massive Wilkins Ice Shelf and the swift retreat of the Arctic Ocean summer ice cover over the past 30 years, while at the North Pole, narrator Sir David Attenborough stands on sea ice that at present is several metres thick but which is predicted to be open ocean in just a fewdecades.SL
Come Bell Ringing With Charles Hazlewood, BBC4, 9pm
OK then! It is Christmas after all. But Charles Hazlewood has a twist in store⦠he doesnât want to call the faithful to worship, or celebrate weddings, triumphs or tragedies. Instead he wants to see if a set of enormous bells can be used to make an original tune in their own right⦠and re-rigs a whole church tower to find out. SL
Half Cut Woman, Sky1, 9.30pm
This slightly bizarre take on cosmetic surgery TV has Dr Robert Ersek showing us the impact and effect of these kinds of operations â by performing procedures on only one half of the patientâs body. In this episode, an overweight woman in her thirties goes under the knife, enduring liposuction to her right side only and 50 per cent of a tummy tuck and a breast lift. SL
Perez Hilton Superfan, ITV2, 10pm
The bitchy gossip queen jumps from internet to TV with this unscripted series in which he trails after celebs who apparently have a big gay following (or perhaps itâs anyone left whoâll talk to him). First up is Lady Gaga; later we get Enrique Iglesias and Kelly Rowland. SL
Film Choice: Inside Job, BBC2, 9pm
If youâre feeling a bit brassic this Christmas, this investigative documentary on the root causes of the 2008 global financial crisis wonât cheer you up any but it may just prompt you to join the protesters at St Paulâs. Sleek, smart but above all angry, director Charles Fergusonâs powerful attack on the morally corrupt trading culture that bankrupted the world deservedly won this yearâs Oscar for best documentary. Matt Damon (pictured) narrates this must-see movie. CK
